This is an original 1916 color print of a painting by Franois Flameng of men carrying supplies to the battlefront in France during World War I.

Founded by Ädouard Charton, the first issue was published on March 4, 1843. The magazine ceased publication in 1944. L'Illustration was known for its extensive use of beautiful illustrative material as well as for its articles.
